Wedding DJ Sydney

  • Wedding Reception | 16 March 2013 | Katie & Scott | Coast Golf Club, Little Bay, Sydney

This super sweet and gorgeous couple first met on MySpace, but it was not until 6 November 2007 that they actually met in person at The Mean Fiddler in Rouse Hill. Katie’s first impression of Scott was that he was “Hot!” whilst Scott just couldn’t take his eyes off Katie for one moment whilst admiring just how beautiful she was and saying “Wow!” to himself repeatedly. They hit it off straight away, shared their first kiss that night on the dance floor and so marked the beginning of this beautiful love story.

Love blossomed and they eventually moved in together. On the 4th May 2011, when Katie returned home she found rose petals on the stairs leading to the bedroom. She followed the petals and as she opened the bedroom door noticed there was a rose petal love heart on the bed and then……….. she saw Scott down on his knee. Scott proposed to Katie that day, and whilst Katie was left absolutely speechless, except for an “Oh My God!”, she obviously did say yes at some point, because here we were at Coast Golf Club on a beautiful Sydney Autumn day to witness their life long commitment and celebrate the deep love they both share.

With a gentle breeze blowing across this picturesque setting, enhanced by the lovely ladies from Decorations By Jelena who created a stunning ceremony setting, guests commenced to gather as Scott and his grooms men waited in front of the ceremony arbour framing the Golf Course and the Pacific Ocean. Then in the distance, a green and white Kombi appeared and slowly wound it’s way to the ceremony location. Katie and her bridesmaids alighted from the Kombi, the processional music started playing and the girls started making their way up the aisle. Katie, looking absolutely positively radiant and stunning, was escorted up the aisle by her very proud dad, Phil. As they made their way up the aisle, Scott setting eyes on his beautiful wife to be, struggled to keep his emotions in check – it was a such beautiful moment. When Katie finally reached Scott they exchanged a kiss and the lovely ceremony began. Before we knew it Katie & Scott were finally married!!

Some group photos were taken, before the the wedding party jumped on golf buggies and made their way around the grounds, for more photographs. Guests adjourned to the Club and onto the Terrace enjoying refreshments and the spectacular view. When it was time, guests were asked to take their seats and we officially welcomed the wedding party. Katie and Scott opted for a FUN entry which included sound drops, comedy, best man Scotty H taking off his shirt (completely spontaneous, although as I learned later in the evening, he did not need much encouragement to do this and in fact took off his shirt a number of times throughout the celebration) and  Katie being carried in by Scott ‘piggy back’ style to the cheers and applause of their family and friends. A brief welcome and thank you by Scott and everybody was then served a lovely entrée.

After the entrée, Katie & Scott cut their awesome wedding cake – if you are wondering the significance of the cake, both are into motocross and dirt bike racing. Then continuing the fun, we had a little activity to see how well Katie and Scott knew each other. Asking a series of pointed questions like.”Who is the better kisser?”, whilst they sat back to back holding their own shoe in one hand and the other’s shoe in the other hand. They each simply raised the appropriate shoe to indicate their answer. This proved to be highly enjoyable to all the guests with some hilarious combinations of shoes.

Guests then enjoyed a delicious main meal before it was time for the speeches. First up was Katie’s dad Phil, then Scott’s mum, Maureen and finally best man, Scotty H. All made lovely speeches congratulating the newly weds, recounting some humourous stories, thanked all those involved in the organisation of the celebration and wished Katie and Scott much happiness. This was followed by Dessert.

It was now time for their first dance as husband an wife. On a dance floor surrounded by their family and friends, Katie and Scott danced to “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None The Richer. This was so beautiful with both totally in the moment and so content, Katie with her so beautiful smile and Scott once again trying to hold back his emotions. Mid way through the dance “our special surprise” resulted in many happy tears throughout the room. Scott held Katie closer and Katie held Scott closer and savoured every second of that special moment. Guests were then invited to join in and party time began! Scotty H took off his shirt a number of times, the brides maids and Katie danced to songs from the hens night and their were lots of smiles on the dance floor.

Before we knew it was time for the bouquet toss, garter toss and father daughter dance. Mid way through the dance Katie indicated to mum, Sally to cut in and it became a mother daughter dance whilst at the same time Scott asked mum, Maureen to dance – lovely and just so nice to see! Everyone was then invited to join Katie and Scott for a farewell dance  before forming a guard of honour and it was time for our new Mr & Mrs Johnson to depart and begin the next chapter of their lives as a married couple.

Katie and Scott, thank you for being the lovely genuine individuals you are. It was such a huge pleasure being a part of your wedding day – I enjoyed every second of it! I loved getting to know you both, I loved seeing how much you adore each other. I loved the personal touches that made your wedding totally you. I loved meeting your family and friends. I loved watching you say ‘I do!’ I loved the connection. I loved the way you smiled at each other. For a hopeless romantic like me, all these things make my heart smile and so very, very happy. Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your amazing wedding day as your Sydney Wedding DJ & MC – I will always remember it with much fondness.  May love, laughter and music continue to fill your lives forever!!

  • Wedding Reception | 23 February 2013 | Ainslee & Vincent | Waterfront Restaurant, The Rocks, Sydney

The Sunday paper described Ainslee and Vincent’s wedding day as one of torrential downpours, gale-force winds and wild weather. I prefer to describe it as a beautiful day when two truly lovely individuals made a life long commitment to each other and the only drenching was from the love they share…..soaking into the hearts and souls of all those present.

Ainslee and Vincent met at work some six years earlier, although there had been a brief encounter about 18 months prior to that. They initially started going out with a group of common friends and over time love blossomed. During a Hawaiian holiday in June 2012, following a couple of re-scheduled attempts, Vincent finally was able to propose while they were out for dinner. Fast forward to Saturday 23 February 2013 and they exchanged vows and became one at St Brigid’s Catholic Church, Millers Point, The Rocks.

The reception was held in the Settlers Hall and Opera Room of Waterfront Restaurant (now Harbourfront Seafood Restaurant) in Campbells Cove in Sydney’s Rocks precinct. The restaurant normally commands stunning views to the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House, but unfortunately on this wet day visibility of the Harbour Bridge was diminished and the Opera House view was obscured by the Queen Victoria cruise liner which happened to be docked at the Overseas Passenger Terminal. But love overcomes all obstacles and this was certainly true for Ainslee and Vincent’s wedding.

Guests arrived and enjoyed the hospitality offered by the Waterfront whilst Ainslee, Vincent and the Wedding Party had photographs around the City. Not long after, guests were seated and the parents Noni, Ron & Victor introduced, followed by Matron of Honour, Natalie and Best Man, Kwan. Guests then welcomed Ainslee and Victor with cheers and applause as they danced around the room, before Vincent welcomed everybody and encouraged all to join in and have fun celebrating.

After everyone had finished their tasty entrée, we had the first of the speeches. First up was Matron of Honour, Natalie and then Best Man, Kwan. Both gave their version and an insight into Ainslee and Vincent’s love story. Both spoke of how they had witnessed their love grow and how they were just perfect for each other. Natalie even recounted a story or two from when she and Ainslee were growing up and some of the mischief they had gotten up to.  A few photos which some family and friends before the yummy main meal was served and enjoyed by all.

It was now time for the remainder of the speeches, first Ainslee’s dad Ron, who spoke highly of both Ainslee and Vincent and also shared some details on how Vincent had asked him for permission to propose to Ainslee. Lovely gentleman. Lovely words. Finally it was Vincent’s turn to take the microphone. He also gave his version of the love story, spoke about how Ainslee and himself had the same values, similar upbringing, how they were both ambitious and possessed other similar traits, yet how also, they were very different. Ainslee liked everything planned and liked to relax, whereas he liked to go with the flow and be on the go. Vincent concluded by declaring his deep love for Ainslee which I was thrilled to have been able to follow with a special unique presentation to this lovely couple.

More photos with family and friends, a delightful dessert and it was time for the cutting of the cake. A very special first dance, following which Ainslee and Vincent were joined by the wedding party and parents, then the guests. Part way through this, fireworks appeared above Fort Denison in the middle of the Harbour – of course Vincent quickly claimed he had organised this for Ainslee!! From there on in it was party time. Guests danced, jumped into the photobooth and enjoyed the evening. What I loved was that despite the weather, the Queen Victoria blocking some of the view and some other setbacks, both Ainslee and Vincent were determined to have a wonderful time. You need only look at the photographs to see that they did.

Before we knew it, it was time for the bouquet toss, a very special daddy daughter dance and it was time to farewell our lovely couple. A Circle of Love and a Guard of Honour which ended with a little dance and they sealed the evening with a lovely kiss before departing to start their new life together (see video below). To me, it was such a beautiful and perfect way to end the festivities.

Complications in the lead up to the wedding meant that Ainslee and Vincent did not contact me until late in the planning process but we instantly connected with each other and spent seven hours at our first meeting planning their special day. Ainslee and Vincent, whilst I am very sorry that these complications occurred in the first place, as I do not wish that on any couple and it really should never have happened, I am nonetheless so pleased that fate led you to me and I was entrusted as your Sydney Wedding DJ & MC. Had it not, I would not have gotten to know you and the beautiful individuals you both are. I would not have been able to witness the love you have for friends and family and the love they in turn have for you. Maybe, as Natalie expressed to me at one point during the evening, “it was just meant to be”.  I feel so honoured to have been a part of your day. Ainslee and Vincent, thank you for allowing me this privilege. I know that your love will continue to grow and that the next chapter of your life together will be the absolute best. May love, laughter and music continue to fill your lives forever!!

  • Wedding Ceremony & Reception | 16 February 2013 | Julie & Joseph | Private Residence, Sydney

Julie and Joe are a lovely couple who had met almost six years earlier. For their first date they went to see Pirates of the Caribbean III and dinner. Love blossomed and here we were on their wedding day. Even the mixed weather could not dampen their spirit and love they share. Just as I arrived, there was a downpour which partially flooded the reception marquee and caused some safety issues around my set up, however with a little ingenuity, Joe and I resolved the issue and we were ready to go – we just hoped that the rain would stop in time for the ceremony.

The ceremony and reception was held at the home of one of Julie’s good friends on the outskirts of Sydney. This beautiful property had stunning views towards the City and it’s surrounds and really was a beautiful location for a wedding. The weather gods in their wisdom ended up giving Julie and Joe the most perfect day.

As the clock struck 4:00 pm, the processional music started and the bridesmaids, which consisted of and Julie & Joe’s daughters, Rheannon, Erinn, Tara and Lily commenced their walk to the ceremony area, followed by Julie, escorted by her mum, Sheila. Waiting was Joe and best man Nicholas. Guests then witnessed a lovely ceremony officiated by Vicky Watson where they both professed their deep love for each other. This was followed by the sand ceremony with each member of this now blended family pouring a layer of coloured sand. The Marriage Register was then signed before Julie and Joe made their way back down the aisle as husband and wife.

Whilst Julie and Joe were having photographs around this magnificent property, guests were served refreshments, finger food and enjoyed the great view. A little while later guests were invited to take their seats inside the marquee before we officially welcomed the entire wedding party. Joe thanked everyone for being a part of their special day and encouraged them to have a good time.

A buffet of delicious Italian food had been prepared and was ready however during one of our planning sessions we decided that in order to avoid a long queue at the buffet, that we would have an activity to determine when a specific table would be released to the buffet line.  Whilst the wedding party were helping themselves to the buffet, I explained to the guests that as a table they would need to select a song which contained the word “Love” and when called up, the table needed to serenade Julie and Joe until either of them decided that they had heard enough and only then could they join the buffet line. Guests were discussing songs, googling songs and lyrics and had heaps of FUN singing, dancing (this particular table assured me that Gangnam Style definitely has the word ‘Love’ in it, it is just in Korean), participating and watching the other tables perform. Check out all the smiles in the photo & video further below.

After everyone had finished their meal, we proceeded with the speeches. First up Julie’s mum, Sheila, followed by Best Man, Nicholas, Joe and impromptu speeches from Joe’s daughters, Tara and Lily. The cutting of the wedding cake and time for more fun and games whilst guests waited for their dessert. In the first activity Julie and Joe were seated back to back in the centre of the dance floor, I then had them remove their shoes and swap so that they had one of each shoe. I then asked them a series of questions to see how well they knew each other. To answer each question they would raise the appropriate shoe and being seated back to back, they could not see each others replies, which resulted in some great reactions from the guests. Once again great FUN! This was then followed by a silly dance activity which had 4 random couples doing the chicken dance before dessert was served.

It was now time for the first dance where mid way through Julie & Joe were joined by the wedding party and the guests. We then partied the night away. The bouquet toss and then the farewell dance where guests ended up forming a circle around Julie and Joe and as a group embraced them as the song neared the end.

Julie and Joe, I had lots of fun entertaining at your wedding. I believe we achieved your aim of a relaxed, low key but fun wedding – it was all these things, and more. Thank you for your trust and allowing me to be a part of this special day. You are both genuine, caring people who love each other and your blended family to bits. It was such a joy to witness this and really made my heart happy. May love, laughter and music continue to fill your lives forever!!
