Wedding Ceremony & Reception | 13 October 2018 | Frank & Nick | Yester Grange, Wentworth Falls, Blue Mountains

by

Frank and Nick’s wedding was all about love and acceptance. Whilst I have previously entertained for same sex couples making lifelong commitments, these have been before marriage equality law was passed in Australia. They selected Yester Grange at Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains as the location for their ceremony and reception. Yester Grange is nestled amongst 20 acres of totally private parkland and garden at the top of the Wentworth Falls waterfall and National Park which was very fitting as no matter where in the world they are (Frank and Nick are prolific travellers), they always seem to happen across a waterfall.

The ceremony commenced with Frank and Nick walking in separately from either side of the ceremony location and following the ceremony, which was beautifully officiated by Laura Graham of Put A Ring On It, the crowd was split and Frank and Nick walked away together, as husbands with the aisle awash with rainbow ribbons being waved around in celebration of the occasion.

This was followed by a group photograph on the Yester Grange steps before Frank and Nick took part in a German wedding tradition where a log was sawed in half. The log on a sawhorse represented the trials and tribulations that inevitably occur over the years in any marriage. Frank and Nick cut through the log using a double-ended saw. This ritual symbolises their first achievement together as a married couple and reminds them that they can work together to overcome any obstacle! Check out the photos below and the video at the bottom of the post.

What followed was a relaxed celebration with heartfelt moments, wonderful speeches, surprises, lots of fun and heaps of dancing. Some of the guests had travelled from the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, across New South Wales and as far away as Germany. Everybody celebrated this union wholeheartedly. All too soon, it was time to farewell Frank and Nick but not before they both tossed bouquets and left to commence their married life together.

Frank and Nick, thank you for entrusting me with the responsibility of looking after the audio and music for your ceremony and giving me the privilege of being your Blue Mountains Wedding DJ. It was a pleasure and honour to play a part in this wonderful milestone moment in your lives. May love, laughter and music fill your lives forever!!!

Wedding Ceremony & Reception | 7 October 2017 | Hanyip & Jeremy Workman | Fairmont Resort, Leura, Blue Mountains

by

Hanyip and Jeremy first met in November 2011. Hanyip was on a working holiday visa and had picked up a casual job at a take-a-way sushi shop whilst visiting her aunt and uncle in Sydney for a few weeks. Jeremy frequented the shop daily to buy lunch, but one day turned up earlier than normal. The shop was not busy as the lunch time rush was yet to start. Jeremy ordered his lunch and sat outside. Hanyip noticed that he appeared to be watching her and when the opportunity arose, Jeremy asked Hanyip her name. Two days later he asked her if she would like to go for a coffee. This led to another date and the rest is history!

It was a beautiful spring Blue Mountains day and it was just perfect weather for a very special wedding. Hanyip’s family and close friends traveled from Korea to be at the Fairmont Resort in the Blue Mountains suburb of Leura for the wedding ceremony and reception. The Fairmont Resort is located  on the cusp of the dramatic Jamison Valley which affords it stunning views and picturesque surrounds.

Guests gathered for the ceremony at the Jamison Valley Green. At the allotted time, the bridesmaids and Hanyip made their way down the aisle to the groomsmen and Jeremy who were waiting. It was a simple, but beautiful ceremony, exquisitely officiated by Tina McCormack before this union of two cultures was declared as one love and Hanyip and Jeremy were pronounced husband and wife!

In December, They will continue the festivities with a second celebration as Hanyip and Jeremy celebrate their marriage with a South Korean style ceremony. Some of Jeremy’s family and friends will be making the journey to celebrate again with them.

The reception was full of fun, emotion and good times. The evening was highlighted by some great speeches, a game and soon after everyone was up on the dance floor.I am certain that Hanyip and Jeremy will look back with many fond memories on their beautiful wedding day. No doubt this recalling the finer things will be made easier with the images captured by Xtraordinary Photos & Video, who were fantastic to work with!

Hanyip and Jeremy, you are two super down to earth and relaxed people. You have been on quite the journey together and the emotion that was expressed during my time with you is a real testament to that. As your journey together as one continues, your love for each other will deepen and you will continue to share many adventures and memories together.

Thank you for entrusting me with your wedding day as your Blue Mountains Wedding DJ, Blue Mountains Wedding MC and ceremony entertainment. It was such a pleasure meeting you both, hearing your unique love story and providing assistance in the planning process. Have a truly enjoyable time in Fiji and in South Korea in December! May, love, laughter and music fill your lives forever!!!

Wedding Reception | 16 April 2016 | Charlotte Simpson-Young & Jason Weeks | The Carrington, Katoomba, Blue Mountains

by

For the second time in a week, I made my way to Katoomba in the Blue Mountains and The Carrington Hotel, this time for Charlotte and Jason’s wedding celebration. It was an absolutely picture perfect day for their planned outdoor ceremony in Leura. From all reports it was a beautiful ceremony and was followed by drinks and cake at the location, before guests adjourned to The Lounge in The Carrington for pre-dinner drinks and canapés.

Charlotte and Jason met at a birthday party of one of Jason’s friends around November 2010. Charlotte was there because a friend of a friend of a friend was invited and did not particularly want to attend on their own. At the party besides striking up an in depth intelligent conversation, Charlotte, while getting a drink in the kitchen, went to tickle Jason’s stomach and was noticeably impressed that he had a very flat stomach. During that evening Jason also realised that there were many things that impressed him about Charlotte, not only was she also intelligent and smart, but funny and very pretty. Needless to say, they ended up being the last to leave the party. Destiny had played its card and the seeds of a beautiful relationship had now been planted.

A week or so later they went on their first date, Charlotte was meeting Jason for a drink before they headed to the Gaelic Club in Surry Hills, which was having an Irish night, where she was also meeting the two friends she went to the birthday party with. The friends, bailed at the last minute so Charlotte and Jason were on their own for the night. But it was obviously meant to be as not only did they win the door prize on the evening, but later on, a bottle of wine was up for grabs for the first person to dance for two minutes. Charlotte was the first on the dance floor and within 30 seconds or so was joined by Jason who did an Irish jig. So they also won the bottle of wine! The evening was also significant in that, Jason and Charlotte, whilst slow dancing, kissed for the very first time. About three months later they realised that they were very much in love and a little after that, as they would be apart for some time, there were some discussions about the relationship and marriage.

Fast forward to September 2014, and with the excuse of Charlotte’s upcoming birthday, Jason organised a getaway to Tasmania. On 13 September 2014 on top of Mt. Wellington, Jason proposed to Charlotte. Based on discussions, they had in the past when talking about marriage, Jason expected Charlotte to respond with, “Its about time!”, because this is what she had always said she would say when he finally proposed. But being caught completely unawares, Charlotte’s immediate reaction was to burst into tears of happiness before giving a resounding “Yes” response!

So here we were, Charlotte and Jason surrounded by their guests and celebrating the beginning of the rest of their lives. It was a wonderful evening that was interspersed with a great first dance, even though Charlotte may not think so (there were a couple of technical difficulties which appeared to have been caused by Charlotte’s dress getting in the way), wonderful speeches and LOTS of dancing right through to end the evening! I don’t think Charlotte or Jason left the dance floor except to re-hydrate once in a while. They were there amongst their family and friends having the absolute time of their lives!

As with any event where everyone is having such a wonderful time, it felt like it was over all too soon. Charlotte and Jason, thank you for the great honour and privilege you granted me the day you decided to place your trust in me. It was such a pleasure getting to know you a little, helping you plan certain aspects of your reception, witnessing the great love, fantastic relationship and meeting the beautiful families you share. It was such fun being your Blue Mountains Wedding DJ and seeing everybody truly enjoying themselves and so happy for the both of you. You both have a unique relationship and your love is so obvious (I saw a few of those sneaky little kisses and the way you looked at each other throughout the evening). This love will continue to grow and make your marriage stronger with every passing day. May love, laughter and music fill your lives forever!!

Wedding Reception | 9 April 2016 | Cassie & Ben Kirton | The Carrington, Katoomba, Blue Mountains

by

“No person really decides before they grow up who they are going to marry. God decides it all the way before and later on, you find out who you are stuck with.” ~ Kirsten Age 10

Cassie and Ben first met at an 18th birthday party of a mutual friend in 2008 and whilst they can’t recall the exact circumstances of the meeting, this was to be the beginning of their wonderful love story. A few months later they realised they were falling in love. Within twelve months following this, they knew they could not live without the other, but it took some time despite constant hints from family and friends for Ben to pop the question.

In May 2015 Ben arranged a trip up to the Gold Coast as part of Cassie’s Birthday celebration. He had organised a Hot Air Balloon ride on which he was intending to propose, but decided against it at the last minute and proposed before going out to dinner that evening. A surprised Cassie of course said yes and here we were celebrating this beautiful couples wedding!

Cassie and Ben exchanged vows at Our Lady of the Nativity in Lawson. Family and friends then made their way to The Carrington in Katoomba for the reception. They were greeted with canapés and drinks in the Lounge before settling into the Grand Dining Room for the evenings festivities. A short time later everybody enthusiastically welcomed the members of their wedding party but saved the biggest welcome for Cassie and Ben; who were surprised with everybody cheering and twirling napkins in the air as they entered the room!

After the entrees, we heard from Cassie’s brother Eric, Ben’s Godfather Bill and the Chaplain from Ben’s school Chris, who is affectionately known as “Chappy”. During this time we heard some wonderful heartfelt stories about Cassie and Ben, how their relationship developed and how perfect they truly are for each other. A little bit of fun then followed with the Newlywed Game.

The main meal was then enjoyed. It was then time to hear beautiful words from Matron of Honour, Abby and a humourous story or two from Best Man, Sam. Last but not least it was Ben’s turn and with Cassie standing by his side, he thanked everybody for attending, a special thank you to Cassie’s mum, Deborah and to those that had travelled before ending by thanking Cassie for being his wife and expressing how happy she had made him in doing so. The speech ended with a loving kiss for his stunning bride.

Dessert was then served, Cassie & Ben cut their wedding cake and a special first dance before being joined by the wedding party and guests on the dance floor. All too soon it was time for the bouquet and garter toss, farewell circle and a journey through a tunnel of love as Cassie and Ben departed to commence their married life together and this beautiful, intimate, loving reception came to an end.

Cassie and Ben you are both beautiful individuals and together make a very special couple. I can tell how much you are loved by your family and friends and how happy they are that you both have decided to take this next step in your relationship. I know you are both very excited about the future, your new home and the many new adventures that lie ahead. Thank you for allowing me to play some part in your very special day as your Blue Mountains Wedding DJ & MC, it was nothing but a total pleasure getting to know you both and witnessing the happiness and deep love you both have for each other. I know this love will continue to grow throughout your together forever and to reference Kristen Age 10 above, I am so glad that God decided you two should be stuck with each other! May love, laughter and music fill your lives forever!!

Wedding Reception | 16 November 2013 | Tanya & Brad Bower | The Carrington, Katoomba, Blue Mountains

by

Well here I was back at the Carringtion Hotel in Katoomba again for the second time in four weeks, this time for Tanya and Brad’s wedding. Unfortunately the rain somewhat ruined Tanya and Brad’s plans for an outdoor ceremony, but none the less their love shone extremely brightly and surrounded by family and friends, they were married in the Lounge area of the Hotel and became husband and wife.

It was a beautiful ceremony that included Tanya and Brad’s little daughter Ellie as Flower Girl and their friend Heidi providing the music for the ceremony and pre-dinner drinks. Following the ceremony there were photographs taken before Tanya, Brad and the Wedding Party went on a limo ride around Katoomba.

Later guests made their way into the Grand Dining Room for the reception. The  Wedding Party made their way into the room to personalised introductions before everyone was up on their feet to give Tanya and Brad a really great welcome. A few words from Brad then guests were served a beautiful Entree.

Wonderful speeches from Tanya’s Parents Narelle and Richard and Brad’s Mum, Cassie before we had a little fun finding out how well Tanya and Brad knew each other, which was enjoyed immensely by all the guests. The cutting of the cake, Main Meal and we then had a speech from Brad’s brother and Best Man, Mitch. Brad was up next to speak, but unbeknownst to either Brad or Tanya, Brad’s Mum Cassie had assisted me in obtaining a message from Brad’s grandmother who was unable to attend the wedding. When I played this message and Brad heard his grandmother’s voice, he became very emotional and we needed to pause for a very brief moment whilst he recomposed himself. It was a such a beautiful moment and demonstrated the special love between a grandparent and a grandchild. When Brad finally got up to speak he was still visibly affected by the message and found it difficult to speak at times.

Dessert was then served and then we witnessed a beautiful choreographed first dance from Tanya and Brad which ended with a spectacular lift, dip and kiss which I was unfortunately unable to capture due to ensuring the music finished at the right moment. Guests then joined our newly weds and partied for many hours.

Despite the rain it was a beautiful wedding and based on comments received, Tanya and Brad’s brief of wanting a beautiful, smooth-flowing and fun wedding was met and maybe even (hopefully) exceeded. Tanya and Brad, thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your special day. It was such a pleasure to have been a part of your day as your Blue Mountains Wedding DJ & MC. I enjoyed getting to know you both, your families and your friends. I hope you both had the time of your lives and that whenever you look back or think about your wedding day, it brings back nothing but fond memories. Enjoy your honeymoon in Singapore and Thailand and may love, laughter and music continue to fill your lives forever!!!
