  • Wedding Reception | 20 November 2010 | Fay & Justin | The Pavilion, Domain, Sydney

Sydney turned on an absolutely glorious day for Fay and Justin’s wedding. A beautiful ceremony at St George Orthodox Church in Rose Bay followed by a lovely reception at the stunning Pavilion Restaurant (now known as Terrace On The Domain) in the Domain to celebrate the deep love these two wonderful individuals have for each other.

Fay and Justin live and work in Canberra. They met at work some two years ago and as Justin had proposed to Fay at Lady Macquarie’s Chair in July of last year, it was very fitting that their reception was held at The Pavilion.

On arrival the 85 invited guests, many who had travelled from Greece, United States, United Kingdom, Victoria, Queensland and the ACT to help Fay and Justin celebrate their love, were treated to refreshments and canapés in the Pavilion Courtyard, whilst enjoying views of the city skyline, Art Gallery, Botanical Gardens and The Domain.

I must mention that the Pavilion was expertly decorated, not overstated, but eluding elegance and sophistication. Some special touches were the wedding photographs of both parents as guests entered the Restaurant and the provision of a Photo Booth

Soon afterwards, with great applause, we welcomed Fay’s parents, Harry and Kay, Justin’s parents, Greg and Wanda, Best Man & Maid of Honour, Jonny and Penny followed by the stars of the day, the newly-weds – Fay and Justin! The cutting of the cake, some champagne and the chance for some photographs with their guests before a delicious entrée was served.

It was now time for the speeches, first up was Fay’s dad Harry who welcomed all the guests who had travelled from around the world and interstate, expressed his happiness and promised both Fay and Justin that they would always be there for them. Harry concluded by introducing a special message from Fay’s 90 year old grandfather. Justin’s dad, Greg was next also thanking all those who had travelled from afar. He conveyed his joy of now having Fay as a member of the Hooper family and also detailed how proud he and Wanda were of Justin, his choice of bride and all that he had achieved in life.

Best Man Jonny, grew up in the same street as Justin and he and Justin have been best friends since kindergarten, was next to speak recalling some childhood stories and spoke of how Fay and Justin’s relationship had developed.

Last but not least we heard from Justin, who was feeling very nervous and was at times overcome with emotion, commencing by expressing how lovely it was to be surrounded by the people that meant the most to both Fay and himself, he then became overcome with emotion, needing to pause for a moment to regain his composure when speaking of his Nan, who unfortunately due to age, was unable to be in attendance, and his grandpa who had passed away. When it came to thanking his parents, Justin once again became a little emotional – it was obvious the impact that these people have had on Justin’s life and how much he cared for them. Justin concluded by thanking and complimenting Fay and described how he felt when he saw Fay walking down the aisle earlier that afternoon – it was a vision he will treasure always. A lovely heartfelt speech which touched all those in attendance.

A delectable main meal was enjoyed by all before it was time for Fay and Justin’s first dance – a very beautiful moment for both of them. You need only look at the photograph below and how they are looking into each others eyes to see that they are so very much in love.

Fay then danced with her father and a few verses later was joined by Justin and his Mum. It was then time for everybody to let their hair down and dance the night away. With a variety of classics, contemporary and Greek selections, a wonderful evening was had by all. Those that needed to catch their breath, did so at the Photo Booth – I am certain Fay and Justin will get a lot of joy when they look back on these photos.

The bouquet toss, more dancing and before we knew it was time to wind up proceedings. It was a perfect day for a beautiful couple who really were meant to be together. It was an intimate, relaxed and fun celebration inclusive of those that meant the most to Fay and Justin. The memories from their wedding day will be forever treasured. Fay and Justin, it was a great pleasure getting to know you and being able to contribute to your wedding day. I wish to express my thanks for putting your trust in me and giving me the privilege and honour. May love and music fill your lives forever.
