Wedding Ceremony & Reception | 25 August 2018 | Tania & Shane Phillips | Sylvan Glen, Penrose, Southern Highlands

by

The weather forecast for Tania and Shane’s wedding day was anything but great, with a 90% chance of rain. Tania had been fretting a little [ or maybe even a lot 😉 ] in the days leading up to today, that her dream, which she had played out in her mind endless times, of walking down the path into the ceremony area of the Sylvan Glen gardens and into the arms of Shane, the love of her life, would be replaced by a much shorter walk in the wet weather indoor option. Whilst not the worst case scenario, it would mean the world to her to have the wedding ceremony in the garden. I will come back to the ceremony in a moment.

Tania and Shane are genuinely lovely and thoughtful people. They are also caring, gentle, hilarious and fiercely loyal to their family and friends. But most of all, they are perfect together and it was so wonderful to witness them celebrating their marriage surrounded by many of their close family and friends.

Having met through a mutual friend back in March 2015, they immediately felt a connection and saw something extraordinary in each other. By November of the same year they were a couple and not longer after, started planning their future together. This has seen the bringing together of two families and a shared love for their respective children and now also for their adorable granddaughter, Piper.

Sylvan Glen is located in Penrose in the southern half of the Southern Highlands of NSW. The Estate sits in a lush valley of over 60 acres and has a rich and varied history, dating back to 1870. Today, it is an award winning wedding venue, offering couples the opportunity to host family and friends for the weekend, get married on site, hold their reception there and also having accommodation available! Tania and Shane took full advantage of the facilities.

Now, back to the ceremony, as it would happen, the rain eased and stopped, leading up to the ceremony time and the call was made to proceed with the garden location. Everything was going so well, Tania got to walk down the aisle accompanied by her son, Corey. Shane got to witness that wonderful, beautiful moment when you see your bride in her wedding dress walking towards you, there were words of wisdom shared by Tania’s parents, Rob & Jan and Shane’s friends, Dean & Samantha, the guests all gathered witnessing the culmination of one chapter of this love story and the beginning of another.

Shane was part way through his vows when a few drops started falling. Tania followed with her vows as some umbrella’s were dispensed to the wedding party and guests as the rain increased slightly. Tania finished her vows then the ring ceremony followed. A reading by Juliette before Tania and Shane were declared husband and wife by Civil Marriage Celebrant, Margaret Phillips to loud applause! Their first kiss as a married couple ensued. The rain drops intensified slightly, so a quick relocation for the Register signing and Mr & Mrs Shane & Tania Phillips were now official and ready for their together forever!! Now some may look upon the little rain towards the end of the ceremony as ruining it, but having gotten to know Tania and Shane and how deep their love is for each other, I saw it as a blessing from the powers above that this love will continue to grow and enrich not only their own lives, but also that of all those whom they come into contact with.

Once in the reception area, guests were provided refreshments and canapes whilst Tania, Shane and their wedding party took advantage of a subsequent break in the weather to have photographs captured around the picturesque Sylvan Glen grounds by the very talented Laura from Elysium Photography and videography by the equally talented Cassie and Craig from Puzzleman Productions.

It was a wonderful evening with many personal touches as we celebrated this beautiful love in a relaxed and fun way. So much attention to detail and love went into making it the amazing day it was. From the detail in the decorations, the personalised introductions, the games which had everyone laughing and “awww-ing”, the messages from those unable to attend and much more all coming together to create some wonderful memories for Tania, Shane and their guests.

Following much dancing, the reception ended with a farewell dance and an “endless tunnel of love” for Tania to Shane to exit through and begin their married life together…..but as many were staying on the property, I could hear the celebration kicking on in the Guest House as I was leaving the property an hour later – and why not, they have SO MUCH to celebrate.

Despite some minor challenges with the elements, it really was perfect, just like their love for each other. These two light each other up and are so deeply in love it literally radiates off them. It was such an honour to have been able to be a part of this celebration. Thank you Tania and Shane for your trust in me as your Southern Highlands Wedding MC and Southern Highlands Wedding DJ, for being all about the FUN and for not letting the crazy weather dampen your amazing day! Enjoy your mini-moon and reflecting on the wedding and your future together. May love, laughter and music fill your lives forever.

Wedding Reception | 17 December 2016 | Cortney & Hil Yin Choi | The Tea Room QVB, Sydney

by

Cortney and Hil’s first encounter occurred in 2011, but it was not until 2012 that they started to interact more and a relationship began to develop. Cortney and Hil are a beautiful couple and their wedding celebration was full of family love, warmth and many emotions.

Following their ceremony earlier in the day at Barker College, Hornsby, they chose to celebrate at the Tea Room in the Queen Victoria Building, Sydney. With the room looking stunning, thanks to the lovely ladies from Decorations By Jelena, the fantastic wedding cake by Pretty Parties and the photographic and videographic skills of the team from Hugo Photography & Film, it was such a great celebration. Surrounded by family and friends, we were so privileged to witness a deep tender love that has grown despite the difficulties that these two have faced due to distance, as one was studying in Townville, Queensland and the other in Melbourne, Victoria over the past four years.

From our first meeting in the first week of this year, I could see that Hil totally and utterly adores Cortney, the way he always has his arm around her, the way he looks at her with loving eyes, she is his angel and he treats as such. Just as equally Cortney adores Hil. When they are together, they are rarely separated and Cortney just radiates joy. Together they are an awesome couple who are very deeply in love and work hard to ensure it remains that way.

During the reception there were many emotional moments for both Cortney, Hil, their respective parents, siblings and those nearest and dearest. All the speeches throughout the evening were meaningful as well as entertaining and was enjoyed by all the guests.

Around five weeks before the wedding I received an email from Hil with the subject of “Secret Song”. As nearly all my dealings in regards to the wedding had been with Cortney and her mum, Jeanie, the fact that I was receiving an email from Hil and that subject line had me more than a little curious. On opening the email, I discovered that Hil was planning to surprise Cortney by singing her a song during the wedding reception. It also asked whether I was able to provide two wireless microphones, patch in a guitar and requesting suggestions as to when would be best to sing the song. I replied with all the information he needed and asked that he confirm certain details. As I subsequently learnt during the best man’s speech, Hil is not one for returning texts and if he does, they tend to be very, very brief. This also appears to apply to emails, or so it seems – as when I did receive a response about five days prior to the wedding, it did not contain enough information for me to ensure that I was up to speed on the finer details of exactly how this was going to executed.

On the day of the wedding I came prepared with everything I could think I needed to pull this off, but was not even sure if it was going ahead – until minutes before the doors were to open to commence seating the guests, when in strolls a gentleman with a guitar. Quick patch in, tune, determine the levels and we were set. During the evening, in those rare moments when Cortney was not by his side, he was frantically going over the lyrics to the song and then following the cutting of the cake it was time for him to sing. Personally, I thought it was a beautiful moment, there are some photographs below that I managed to capture, but take a listen yourself to Hil singing Ed Sheeran’s “Tenerife Sea” to Cortney, aided by his friend, whose name I unfortunately didn’t get, on guitar and the best man, Gideon on backup vocals. The applause at the end of the song certainly verifies that it was quite a performance and a special moment.

As mentioned above, it was truly a beautiful wedding and I enjoyed every moment of my involvement in it. Cortney and Hil, thank you so much for the trust you placed in me and the honour and privilege you gave me in allowing me to play a part in this very special day as your Wedding DJ Sydney and for part of the evening, your Wedding MC Sydney. I hope you enjoyed every moment of your amazing wedding day. Based on everything I learnt about the two of you in the lead up to your wedding, you are completely perfect for each other! Your love will continue to grow even stronger with each passing day and I see nothing but a life filled with love for the both of you. Have a fabulous time on your honeymoon in New Zealand!! May, love, laughter and music fill your lives forever!!!

Wedding Reception | 24 September 2016 | Kasey & Ben Boulton | Silos Estate & Restaurant, Berry, South Coast

by

Kasey and Ben’s wedding day was filled with the warmth and love of their family and friends plus as an added bonus, the weather gods came to the party by turning on a beautiful South Coast day which was just perfect to celebrate the beginning of their together forever journey. Kasey and Ben selected Silos Restaurant as the location for their reception. Silos is located on a green hill just outside Berry, which features two silos that almost a century ago was used to store grain.

The love story of Kasey & Ben began in August/September of 2008 when they went on a double date arranged by Kasey’s best friend. Both were feeling very nervous, but by the end of that evening they had exchanged their first kiss and the rest is history. Four years later they moved in together and on 16 July 2015, Ben arranged a weekend away in the Blue Mountains, where he could not have organised a more romantically perfect setting to ask Kasey to be his wife. Snow, roses and champagne, Kasey in tears when asked and the answer was a resounding yes!

They exchanged vows and became one at St. Marys Star Of The Sea in Gerringong earlier in the afternoon then returned to Silos for photographs around the picturesque property whilst guests enjoyed wine tasting. Soon it was time to commence the festivities! Entering to two songs from Grease by Olivia Newton John & John Travolta, the wedding party, then Kasey and Ben entered the Marquee adjacent to Silos Restaurant to great applause and twirling napkins!

Following an exquisite entrée, it was time for our first set of speeches. First up was Ben’s Grandfather Mick, then Ben’s Mum Vicki and followed by Kasey’s Dad Peter. Lovely speeches from each one of them with beautiful sentiments being expressed about our newlyweds. An emotional father daughter dance then captivated the guests as Kasey and Peter shared a special moment on the dance floor. Some fun with the Newlywed Game and then it was time for guests to enjoy the delicious main meal.

The second set of speeches commenced with Maid of Honour Hannah recounting the story of the first date. Best man and Ben’s younger brother, Josh was next and last but not least, the man of the moment, Ben! Ben expressed how he always dreamed of his wedding day, how it would be and the type of person his wife would be. He went on to convey how Kasey exceeded his dream and vision of the person he would marry and how this wedding day was better than he ever imagined. The love Ben has for Kasey is obvious, he does not hide it and it is returned in spadesful by Kasey – truly they are a perfect match!

At the end of the speech it was time for their first dance as husband and wife to a very unique version of Keith Urban’s “Your Everything” – another special moment which Kasey and Ben will remember forever and once again captivating the guests. They then cut their wedding cake before Ben shared a dance with his mum, Vicki – which was just beautiful. It was now party time, time for everybody to let their hair down and have some fun!

In what seemed to be too soon, it had come to the time to start wrapping up the festivities, but not before the bouquet toss, garter toss, everybody joining in on the dance floor for one final dance and then Kasey and Ben departing through a guard of honour to commence their happy ever after!

Kasey and Ben, it was nothing but a joy to get to know you both along with your family & friends. I feel blessed to have been granted the huge honour to play a part in your amazing wedding day as your South Coast Wedding MC and South Coast Wedding DJ. I feel privileged to have witnessed first hand how much you both love, cherish and how devoted you are to each other. It makes my heart happy to see how you both value family and friendships. It was nothing but a pleasure every step of the way and I know that your love will continue to grow with every passing day. To echo words spoken by Ben’s mum Vicki, love is all you need and if you have love, nothing is impossible and happiness is assured! May love, laughter and music fill your lives forever!!!

Wedding Ceremony & Reception | 2 July 2016 | Joanne & Aaron Piccinin | Newcastle City Hall, Newcastle

by

It could not have been a more perfect Newcastle winters day for Joanne and Aaron’s wedding – with not a cloud in the sky, their wedding day was abundant with endless love and sunshine! Whilst it is commonly accepted (and often expected), that the bride will arrive late to her ceremony, Joanne actually arrived early and wearing the biggest smile which appeared to make this already beautiful day, so much more vibrant.

Joanne and Aaron exchanged vows, professed their love for each other and committed to a lifetime as husband and wife at Sacred Heart Cathedral in the Newcastle suburb of Hamilton. The ceremony was followed by heartfelt congratulations and various group photographs before heading off for location shots around the sights of the city.

They chose the Concert Hall in the heritage listed Newcastle City Hall as the location for their reception. It is certainly one of the region’s landmark buildings and with its fine architecture and heritage, it created a classic elegant background for their special day. The celebration commenced with a big welcome for the parents, wedding party and our bride and groom. This was followed by a lovely welcome by Joanne, beautiful speeches from the two dads and Joanne sharing a special moment dancing with her dad.

Guests were then served a delicious entrée before we heard from Joanne’s sister and Maid of Honour, Kelly, followed by Aaron’s brother and Best Man, Jason. Last, but not least, Aaron took to the microphone and proceeded to thank all those that had helped both Joanne and himself throughout their life and in helping make the day the success it was. He ended with a lovely and in typical Aaron style, humourous thanks to Joanne for agreeing to be his wife. All these speeches were enjoyed by the guests.

The main meal, dessert, cutting of the wedding cake, first dance as husband and wife and we were into party time!! Guests danced to a selection of music from throughout the decades and had an enjoyable evening. All too soon it was time for the bouquet toss, a farewell dance and Joanne and Aaron exited through a guard of honour, which had some random sparklers at the end of it, to their waiting Pedicab Rickshaw getaway!!

Joanne and Aaron, it was a great honour, privilege and pleasure to be a part of your wonderful wedding day as your Newcastle Wedding DJ and Wedding MC. Over the last eight and a half years your love has grown and I know that your love will continue to grow as you build your future together. There will be challenges that you will need to face, but with each other by your sides, you can overcome any obstacle. Wishing you both all the happiness in world. May love, laughter and music fill your lives forever!!
