• Wedding Reception | 15 December 2012 | Kylie & Ryan | Baillieu Ballroom, Milton Park Country House Hotel, Bowral, Southern Highlands

Kylie and Ryan are such lovely, genuine people,  an absolute joy to be around, continuously radiating warmth, completely in love and are just so perfect for each other. They first met in primary school where Kylie was often responsible for getting them in trouble for talking in class. But love blossomed and in July 2011, whilst on a trip away to Melbourne, before heading out to dinner, Ryan got down on one knee and proposed to Kylie.

When Kylie and Ryan first contacted me enquiring about my services for their wedding, they informed me that they were going to have a projection screen at their wedding and desired some music videos screened whilst guests were dancing. I did let them know that I had never done this before nor did I have any music videos, however, if they were satisfied with everything else I offered for their wedding day, we could most certainly discuss the possibly of video clips further.  Following phone calls and assistance from a few colleagues, I was so pleased and excited to be able to confirm that I would be also able to also deliver this element, to help create their dream wedding.

Fast forward to 15 December 2012, after many months of planning, Kylie and Ryan were married at Loreto Chapel in Normanhurst, Sydney. Following the ceremony, the 100 invited family and friends made the journey to the Southern Highlands and the beautiful Milton Park Country House Hotel, Bowral to celebrate their love.

On arrival, guests relaxed whilst being served refreshments and canapés before entering the immaculately decorated Ballroom. Following the introduction of the wedding party, a slide show featuring some life and love story highlights was shared. Just as the last slide faded, Kylie and Ryan strolled into the room to thunderous applause….the ‘stars of the show’ were finally ‘in the house’ so the party had now officially begun with everybody set to to have loads of fun!

A delicious entrée was served which was followed by Kylie and Ryan having photographs taken with their guests. A delightful main was then consumed prior to the first of our speeches. Feeling a little nervous and emotional, Sam, the proud father of the bride, spoke from the heart and conveyed how he was feeling. This was followed by equally lovely words from Best Man, Greg.

Time for the luscious Dessert before a surprise speech from Kylie’s youngest sister Carina, then an amazing speech from Ryan. The cutting of the cake and it was time for Kylie and Ryan’s very first dance as husband and wife. This choreographed dance to one of their favourite songs, “Always” by Bon Jovi, ended with a spectacular dip and kiss – just magic!! The wedding party, then guests joined them shortly afterwards as they all began to dance the night away to a selection of mainly classic old and new rock music (Kylie & Ryan are very much into Rock Music) and a dance number every now and then, with many accompanied by the video clip on the big screen. One only needs to look at the photographs below to see that Kylie and Ryan had an absolute ball!! Before what seemed like no time at all, it was time for the Bouquet Toss, an emotional father daughter dance, the farewell circle and it was time for Kylie & Ryan to begin their honeymoon and their new married life.

This wedding was everything that Kylie and Ryan wanted, it was romantic, it was elegant and it was fun. The choice of location, of a secluded country estate,  surrounded by Kylie & Ryan’s nearest and dearest family and friends enhanced the celebration. Everyone had a wonderful time celebrating their special day. Dreams were realised and life long memories were created that will be forever cherished! It was such a great personal pleasure to be their Southern Highlands Wedding DJ & MC.

Kylie and Ryan, I know that your love for each other will continue to grow with each passing day. I know that one day when you start a family, your child/ren will be showered with an abundance of love.  I often struggle to find the words to convey just how grateful I am for the awesome couples who entrust me with their amazing wedding day, but I feel we connected instantly the very first time we met, and as I got to know you both better, you genuinely touched my heart. You are extremely generous individuals, sweet and such fun. I was so very honoured by your complete trust and faith in me. May love, laughter and (rock) music continue to fill your lives forever!!

  • Australian Bridal Industry Awards | 12 December 2012

This year I was extremely proud to have been an Australian Bridal Industry Academy (ABIA) Finalist once again in all three categories in which I provide services; Disc Jockey, Master of Ceremonies and Ceremony Music, at the Annual Bridal Industry Awards. I do like to attend the Awards night as it allows the opportunity to support and meet other industry professionals I may not have had the good fortune to work with and to celebrate in all the successes. It is not about winning, for if you are a Finalist, I believe, you are in the top tier of the wedding industry, as rated by those most qualified to do so – the actual brides and grooms and as such, every supplier in the room is already a winner.

This year, due to a booking, confirmed in the earlier part of the year for a wedding on Fraser Island, Queensland and the Awards being held on what was arguably the most popular day for weddings in the entire year (12.12.12), I was unfortunately unable to attend the Awards Night. You cannot imagine my excitement when I found out that DJ:Plus! Entertainment had been awarded the ABIA for “Best Wedding DJ” 2012 with a rating of 99.98%, placed in the Top 3 for Master of Ceremonies and the only DJ to be a Finalist in the Ceremony Music Category!!!

My couples know that I do not do what I do to win Awards. They know that I am very passionate about what I do and making their dream wedding better than they imagined it could be, is my highest priority. I thank all of them from the bottom of my heart for the trust that they afford me. I thank them for opening their hearts and sharing each unique and beautiful love story. I thank them for the connection and inviting me to be a part of one of the most significant events in their entire life – it is truly a great honour and privilege. I cannot thank them enough for allowing me to ‘feed my addiction’ of love and happiness and I also wish to express my gratitude for their feedback and votes. My couples challenge me, motivate me, inspire me and drive me to continually improve what and how I do things – in short it is best summarised by the title of a popular wedding song by Bryan Adams, Everything I Do, I Do It For You.

  • Wedding Ceremony & Reception | 12 December 2012 | Kingfisher Bay Resort, Fraser Island, Queensland

Guests gathered on the beach at Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island, Queensland on Wednesday 12.12.12 at 12 noon to witness Iori and David’s wedding ceremony which commenced at precisely 12:12 pm. of course! I will expand a little on the day in a moment, but first please listen to the recording from ABC Radio.

Iori and David have requested privacy, however have given permission for some photographs to be posted on this Blog. The only photograph which depicts them, has been digitally modified to honour their privacy request.

As the guests arrived for the ceremony at 12 noon, they were greeted with the Telstra Timecall “At the third stroke it will be 11:59:30, 11:59:40, 11:59:50 and 12:00 precisely” followed by the three pips in each instance. With David waiting with his best man, some precise timing and the assistance of the Kingfisher Bay Resort events staff using two way radios, we were able to orchestrate Iori’s arrival to be at David’s side ready for the ceremony to commence at precisely 12:12 (denoted by the Telstra Timecall, ” At the third stroke it will be 12:12 precisely” followed by the three pips and verified with the Internet), in fact I dare say it was more like 12:12:12, as the time clicked over to 12:12 immediately after the first pip!!!!

Celebrant, David Proctor, performed a beautiful ceremony as the 35 invited guests, consisting of Iori and David’s dearest family and friends, witnessed their exchange of vows, the signing of the register, blending of the coloured sands and their first kiss as husband and wife.

Following the ceremony, whilst Iori and David went off around the Island for photographs, guests had some free time, before gathering in their Villa for canapés and drinks. A short time later Iori and David entered the Villa and mingled with guests till 5:00 pm when guests were taken to the Jetty Bar for more drinks and to watch the sunset (which I am told was quite spectacular!). While guests were down at the Jetty Bar, I moved the equipment from the Villa and set it up for the reception on the Dingo Deck overlooking the pool.

At 7:00 pm the guests started to arrive from The Jetty Bar for Iori and David’s Cocktail Reception. It was a lovely relaxed reception in a beautiful location and definitely suited their style. A little while later there were speeches from Iori’s sister, the Best Man and of course Iori and David. The cutting of the cake, first dance and then it was party time with Gangnam Style being the hit of the night! Bouquet presentation, garter toss, farewell circle and an invitation for those that wished to return to the Villa for a little after party, which finished at 12 Midnight precisely (as you would expect!!!)

It was such a great pleasure and honour to be a part of this very special wedding, 1200 odd kilometres from home. Iori and David are very much in love, they love their friends and family and opened their hearts to all those present – I feel very privileged to have witnessed the connection they share. Enjoy your European honeymoon  and may love, laughter and music continue to fill your lives forever!!
