  • Wedding Song Remake – Your Song by Ellie Goulding

Your Song is a beautiful ballad originally composed and performed by Elton John with lyrics by Bernie Taupin in 1970. In 2010, Ellie Goulding covered the song for the re-release of her “Lights” album retitled “Bright Lights”. Ellie performed the song at the wedding reception of Prince William and Kate Middleton to which they shared their first dance. This version which features just piano and strings and some harmonies towards the end really draws out the tenderness in the lyrics and highlights the loveliness of the melody. As Prince William and Kate found, it would be perfect for a first dance.

    Your Song

    It’s a little bit funny
    This feeling inside
I’m not one of those who can easily hide
    I don’t have much money
    But boy if I did
I’d buy a big house where
    We both could live

    So excuse me forgetting
    But these things I do
    See I’ve forgotten if
    They’re green or they’re blue
    Anyway the thing is
    What I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I’ve ever seen

    And you can tell everybody,
    This is your song
It may be quite simple but
    Now that it’s done
I hope you don’t mind, I hope you don’t mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is now you’re in the world

    If I was a sculptor
    But then again no
Or girl who makes potions in a traveling show
I know it’s not much but
It’s the best I can do
My gift is my song and
    This one’s for you

    Ohh [x8]

    And you can tell everybody
    This is your song
It may be quite simple but
    Now that it’s done
I hope you don’t mind, I hope you don’t mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is now you’re in the world

  • Wedding Song Remake – Strangers In The Night by Cake

“Strangers In The Night” with the music written by Ivo Robić, arranged by Bert Kaempfert and lyrics by Charles Singleton and Eddie Snyderand was first released and made famous by Frank Sinatra in 1966. Cake covered the song and it first appeared on the Stubbs the Zombie Soundtrack in 2005 and later, on Cake’s B-Sides and Rarities Album.

It is a great cover with Cake giving it a refreshing modern lift. This song would be suitable at a wedding as guest arrival music, pre-dinner drink music, dinner music and of course the obvious…..the Cake cutting!

    Strangers In the Night

    Strangers in the night
    Exchanging glances
    Wondering in the night
    What were the chances
    We’d be sharing love
    Before the night was through

    Something in your eyes
    Was so inviting
    Something in your smile
    Was so exciting,
    Something in my heart
Told me I must have you

    Strangers in the night
    Two lonely people
We were strangers in the night
Up to the moment When we said our first hello
    Little did we know
Love was just a glance away
A warm embracing dance away and

    Ever since that night
    We’ve been together
    Lovers at first sight
    In love forever
    It turned out so right
    For strangers in the night

    Ever since that night
    We’ve been together
    Lovers at first sight
    In love forever
    It turned out so right
    For strangers in the night

  • Wedding Song Remake – Someone To Watch Over Me by Amy Winehouse

“Someone to Watch Over Me” is a song composed by George Gershwin with lyrics by Ira Gershwin from the 1926 musical ‘Oh, Kay!’. Popularised by Frank Sinatra in 1946, the song was recorded by Amy and appears on the Deluxe Edition of her album “Frank”.

This is a great cover of an amazing standard and makes for a splendid choice for either the Father/Daughter or Mother/Son dance.

    Someone To Watch Over Me

    There’s a saying old
    Says that love is blind
    Still we’re often told
    “Seek and ye shall find”
    So I’m going to seek
A certain lad I’ve had in mind

    Looking everywhere
    Haven’t found him yet
    He’s the big affair
    I cannot forget
    Only man I ever think
    Of with regret

    I’d like
    To add his initial
    To my monogram
    Tell me
    Where is the shepherd
    For this lost lamb?

    There’s a somebody
    I’m longin’ to see
    I hope that he turns
    Out to be
    Someone to watch over me

    I’m a little lamb
    Who’s lost in the wood
    I know I could
    Always be good
    To one
    Who’ll watch over me

    Although he may
    Not be the man some
    Girls think
    Of as handsome
    To my heart
    He carries the key

    Won’t you tell him please
    To put on some speed
    Follow my lead
    Oh, how I need
    Someone to watch over me

    Won’t you tell him please
    To put on some speed
    Follow my lead
    Oh, how I need
    Someone to watch over me
    Someone to watch over me
