When I first met Cheri and David late last year, they told me of their plans for a simple, relaxed and fun wedding that included lots of laughter, dancing and was stress free. Cheri is sweet, kind, self-less and has an amazing smile that lights up the world. David is soft-spoken, humble and lights up when Cheri looks at him. I could tell instantly that they were perfect for each other and I loved hearing about their plans and got really excited about creating an intimate wedding day that was all about them, plus there was a plan for a beautiful surprise, but more on that later.

Cheri and David selected Winbourne Estate for their wedding ceremony and reception. Located at the foothills of the Blue Mountains in the peaceful Mulgoa Valley, it is surrounded by gentle hills, beautiful trees and features elegant sandstone buildings, making it perfect for weddings.

Unfortunately, in the days leading up to the wedding, Cheri’s Mum was taken to hospital so unfortunately, was unable to attend. Whilst this did cause some unneeded stress on many levels, a solution was devised, through the marvels of technology, to “Face Time” the ceremony and other key moments of the day so that Diane and Russ were able to watch it all unfold from Hospital.

While there were hopes for an outdoor ceremony, the unpredictable weather we had been experiencing led to the decision being made that it would be best held indoors and not risk having a sudden downpour ruin proceedings. The ceremony was relocated to the “Stables Room”, with it’s beautiful sandstone interior and ornate ceilings, it provided a superb ambience for Cheri and David to exchange vows. Sheri was walked down the aisle by her son’s Jason and Mitch and during a lovely ceremony, officiated by Carolyn Wilson, become united in marriage with David.

The reception commenced with everyone loudly welcoming Cheri and David with cheers and twirling napkins to Pink’s “Get The Party Started”. David gave a short welcome and then guests were served a delicious Entree. During the Entree (and also Mains & Dessert), Cheri and David made their way from table to table spending time at each and socialising with their guests.

Next, it was time for the first set of speeches. First up was Cheri’s son, Jason firstly read some beautiful words on behalf of Russ, Cheri’s step-dad (who as mentioned earlier, was unable to be at the reception). Jason then proceeded to give his own speech which was very entertaining! Following Jason, David’s mum, Patricia conveyed lovely sentiments in her speech.

It was now time for a little fun, with the Newly-wed Game where we asked Cheri & David a series of questions to see how well they knew each other. This was enjoyed by all.

Guests then enjoyed a scrumptious main meal, followed by wonderful speeches from both David and Cheri. A surprise few words from Lorraine and a little more fun and frivolity followed with a Dance-off. Dessert was then served, a Scavenger Hunt, cutting of the wedding cake and then Cheri and David shared their first dance as a married couple to a custom DJ:Plus! edit of Ronan Keating’s “This I Promise You” – such a beautiful and special moment. Guests then joined Cheri & David and danced the night away. So much so that we had to get permission to extend slightly for a couple more songs!

But what about the surprise Serge? Let me tell you about the beautiful surprise. Part way through the dancing we stopped to do the bouquet toss. There were only 4 or 5 single ladies in attendance, which included Jason’s girlfriend Christina. The plan was that Cheri would pretend to throw the bouquet, but not actually let go of it, then turn around and present it to Christina. Jason would in the interim get on one knee behind Christina with an engagement ring and propose. It worked exactly as planned and so beautifully!!!! Christina had no idea and was totally surprised. Oh! by the way, she said YES!

Cheri and David’s wedding was so much fun and despite the weather and other issues in the week leading up to their wedding day, everybody celebrated and came together to make it a perfect day for them.

Thank you for entrusting me with the responsibility of being your Sydney Wedding MC and Sydney Wedding DJ, it is not something I take for granted and am forever grateful that I was able to get to know you and play a part in your special day. Cheri and David, your love and affection for each other is so wonderful to witness. You make each other laugh so easily and are so generous of yourselves and your warmth with everyone around you. Have a lifetime of laughs, an eternity of love, and an abundance of happiness as you start this new chapter called ‘Marriage’ together. May love, laughter, joy and music continue to fill your lives forever!!
