  • Wedding Reception | 9 February 2013 | Kate & Matt | Peppers Craigieburn, Bowral, Southern Highlands

Kate and Matt’s wedding day was filled with love, family, laughter, a few raindrops, some happy tears and lots of fun. Matt started off as Kate’s personal trainer and whilst there were feelings from almost the beginning, they managed to keep them contained. Eventually these feelings became so strong, that they gave in to them and went out on their first date. Fast forward to 9 February 2013 and St Francis Xavier’s Catholic Church in Berrima, where these two beautiful people made lifelong promises, exchanged vows, were married and became one.

Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the stunning Peppers Craigieburn on the outskirts of Bowral for the reception. Whilst Kate, Matt and their wedding party had photographs taken around the property, the guests relaxed in Montfort’s Bar & Terrace enjoying the relaxed ambience and some friendly chatter whilst being served refreshments and canapes.

Family and friends then made their way into the Carrington Room and moments later the proud parents, the members of the wedding party and Kate and Matt were welcomed by lots of applause. A brief welcome speech from Matt before the Craigieburn staff served a beautiful entree. What I found was really lovely about Kate and Matt’s reception was that everyone was so just genuinely happy for them and very comfortable with each other; right from the beginning there were guests roaming from table to table and chatting and there were those that danced, shimmied or swayed to the background music as they socialised and made their way around the room. This really set the tone of the reception early in the evening and it prevailed for the duration of the reception.

Next it was time for the first of the speeches, first from Kate’s dad, Domenic and then Matt’s dad, Jeffrey. Both spoke of how elated they were that Kate and Matt had found each other and were now married. Beautiful speeches from two dad’s who kept their emotions at bay, but you could see and feel just how proud and happy they were. This was followed by a fun game and the delicious main meal.

Speeches from Maid of Honour, Rebecca and Best Man, Ben, dessert and then a speech from Kate. It was such a lovely speech; it contained elements of Kate and Matt love story, it contained humour, emotion, tears of joy and was full of LOVE. Kate finished her speech with some heartfelt words to Matt and concluded with a verse which she felt came close to describing her feelings for him:  “If I dropped a tear into the ocean, only when someone finds it will I stop loving you.” After a brief moment we proceeded with the cutting of cake – with a difference. Kate and Matt wanted to include all their family and friends so with a roll of ribbon each, Matt on one side of room, Kate on the other, they walked the ribbon to each table and then met at the cake. They then tied the ribbons to the cake knife. So as they cut the cake, each table was in essence, cutting the cake with them. Beautiful.

Their first dance was next. This was the moment that they had told me over twelve months earlier, at our very first meeting, was most important to them about their wedding reception. Well they were totally in the moment, oblivious to everything around them. It was as if they were the only two in the room. As the music for the first dance ended and Kate and Matt morphed back to reality, they were joined by their parents and the wedding party, then the remainder of the guests and party time began!!. It was such fun, guests tarantella-ed, gangnam-ed, macarena-ed, danced and partied the night away. Before we knew it it was time to wrap things up. Bouquet toss, farewell circle, a very special father daughter dance and Kate and Matt then departed to start their new married life.

Kate and Matt, thank you for your trust in me. It was such a privilege and honour to have been a part of your day. I enjoyed myself immensely. I loved hearing your love story, planning the details and making it happen. I loved getting to know you both and seeing the deep love, affection and respect you have for each other. I loved that you both love your families dearly. I loved so many things. I believe your wedding day was everything you dreamed it would be. Having got to know you, I know you will nurture the love you share and it will continue to grow. I wish you all the happiness in the world. May love, laughter and music continue to fill your lives forever!!

  • Wedding Reception | 15 December 2012 | Kylie & Ryan | Baillieu Ballroom, Milton Park Country House Hotel, Bowral, Southern Highlands

Kylie and Ryan are such lovely, genuine people,  an absolute joy to be around, continuously radiating warmth, completely in love and are just so perfect for each other. They first met in primary school where Kylie was often responsible for getting them in trouble for talking in class. But love blossomed and in July 2011, whilst on a trip away to Melbourne, before heading out to dinner, Ryan got down on one knee and proposed to Kylie.

When Kylie and Ryan first contacted me enquiring about my services for their wedding, they informed me that they were going to have a projection screen at their wedding and desired some music videos screened whilst guests were dancing. I did let them know that I had never done this before nor did I have any music videos, however, if they were satisfied with everything else I offered for their wedding day, we could most certainly discuss the possibly of video clips further.  Following phone calls and assistance from a few colleagues, I was so pleased and excited to be able to confirm that I would be also able to also deliver this element, to help create their dream wedding.

Fast forward to 15 December 2012, after many months of planning, Kylie and Ryan were married at Loreto Chapel in Normanhurst, Sydney. Following the ceremony, the 100 invited family and friends made the journey to the Southern Highlands and the beautiful Milton Park Country House Hotel, Bowral to celebrate their love.

On arrival, guests relaxed whilst being served refreshments and canapés before entering the immaculately decorated Ballroom. Following the introduction of the wedding party, a slide show featuring some life and love story highlights was shared. Just as the last slide faded, Kylie and Ryan strolled into the room to thunderous applause….the ‘stars of the show’ were finally ‘in the house’ so the party had now officially begun with everybody set to to have loads of fun!

A delicious entrée was served which was followed by Kylie and Ryan having photographs taken with their guests. A delightful main was then consumed prior to the first of our speeches. Feeling a little nervous and emotional, Sam, the proud father of the bride, spoke from the heart and conveyed how he was feeling. This was followed by equally lovely words from Best Man, Greg.

Time for the luscious Dessert before a surprise speech from Kylie’s youngest sister Carina, then an amazing speech from Ryan. The cutting of the cake and it was time for Kylie and Ryan’s very first dance as husband and wife. This choreographed dance to one of their favourite songs, “Always” by Bon Jovi, ended with a spectacular dip and kiss – just magic!! The wedding party, then guests joined them shortly afterwards as they all began to dance the night away to a selection of mainly classic old and new rock music (Kylie & Ryan are very much into Rock Music) and a dance number every now and then, with many accompanied by the video clip on the big screen. One only needs to look at the photographs below to see that Kylie and Ryan had an absolute ball!! Before what seemed like no time at all, it was time for the Bouquet Toss, an emotional father daughter dance, the farewell circle and it was time for Kylie & Ryan to begin their honeymoon and their new married life.

This wedding was everything that Kylie and Ryan wanted, it was romantic, it was elegant and it was fun. The choice of location, of a secluded country estate,  surrounded by Kylie & Ryan’s nearest and dearest family and friends enhanced the celebration. Everyone had a wonderful time celebrating their special day. Dreams were realised and life long memories were created that will be forever cherished! It was such a great personal pleasure to be their Southern Highlands Wedding DJ & MC.

Kylie and Ryan, I know that your love for each other will continue to grow with each passing day. I know that one day when you start a family, your child/ren will be showered with an abundance of love.  I often struggle to find the words to convey just how grateful I am for the awesome couples who entrust me with their amazing wedding day, but I feel we connected instantly the very first time we met, and as I got to know you both better, you genuinely touched my heart. You are extremely generous individuals, sweet and such fun. I was so very honoured by your complete trust and faith in me. May love, laughter and (rock) music continue to fill your lives forever!!

  • Professional Photos of Sam & Marty’s Wedding (Samantha & Martin) | Peppers Craigieburn, Bowral, Southern Highlands

On 22 October last year I was extremely honoured to be a part of Sam and Marty’s amazing wedding day at Peppers Craigieburn, in Bowral, Southern Highlands. I loved and enjoyed every single moment of their day and it was so very beautifully captured by one of Sydney’s most talented photographers, Matt Johnson. Matt’s wedding work has been featured in numerous wedding magazines and blogs including Style Me Pretty, Wedding, 100 Layer Cake, Wedding Style Guide and The Knot.

Matt kindly promised to provide some of his images from the wonderful day for me to share on this Blog. Well you cannot imagine my excitement when he made available so many beautiful images that it was a tough job to narrow it down and just select a handful, so I apologise in advance for the vast number of photos in this post. No wait…I don’t, they need to be seen. Thank you very much Matt, your work is truly exceptional – the photographs transported me back and allowed me to relive Sam and Marty’s magnificent wedding all over again!! Enjoy this fabulous pictorial of Sam and Marty’s wedding.
