  • Wedding Reception | 3 April 2009 | Hayley & Ross | Austinmer Surf Life Saving Club, Austinmer, Wollongong

Following a full week of rain, Hayley and Ross were blessed with a lovely sunny day for their wedding. The reception was held at Austinmer Surf Life Saving Club Function Centre just north of Wollongong. Attended by 82 guests it was a fun celebration with a relaxed beach theme – given that this venue has the beach on it’s doorstep, it really was the perfect venue for Hayley and Ross’s celebration. Hayley was also very honoured by being able to have two of her grandmothers and her great grandmother present at the reception.

Hayley, Ross and the remainder of the wedding party arrived accompanied by a bagpiper – this certainly got the attention of all the guests and they were greeted with cheers and applause.

Following a very lovely buffet, there were speeches from Hayley’s father Russell, Bridesmaid Bec, Bestman Neil and then Ross and Hayley. During Bec’s speech it was revealed that Hayley had actually been in love with Ross since she was 13 years old and how she would always convince Bec to walk past his house in case Ross happened to be out the front. Notice the permanent smiles both Hayley and Ross have in all the photos – they obviously were very happy and are very deeply in love.

From speeches to the cutting of the wedding cake and then Hayley and Ross hit the floor for their first dance to an acoustic version of the Chris Brown song, “Forever”. Mid way through the song the wedding party and guests joined them and the celebration began in earnest.

I had the pleasure of meeting with Hayley and Ross on a number of occasions prior to the wedding. These meetings allowed me to understand the vision they had for their reception and to get to know them better – firstly I believe that I was able to assist in providing the reception they had always dreamed of, but more importantly, I got to see what a wonderful couple they are, the beauty they have within and the love that grows deeper for each other as each day passes. It was a great honour to have been given the opportunity and privilege to make a contribution to and be a part of their day.

  • Wedding Ceremony & Reception | 6 December 2008 | Gabrielle & Sultan | Panorama House, Bulli Tops

Gabrielle and Sultan flew in from Saudi Arabia the day before the Ceremony and Lunch time Celebration for 60 guests held at Panorama House, Bulli Tops which overlooks the entire south coast. Gabrielle and Sultan live and work in Saudi Arabia but wished to celebrate this special time with Gabrielle’s family and friends in Australia. Unfortunately, due to distance, none of Sultan’s family were able to attend, however we could certainly feel their presence amongst us.

Following a lovely ceremony, on what turned out to be an absolutely beautiful warm day, guests adjourned to the function room for canapes and refreshments. This was followed by a lovely meal overlooking the magnificent view. After the entree there were two lovely speeches – the first from Gabrielle’s dad, John who detailed the Gabrielle and Sultan love story and the other from Gabrielle’s sister Letitia who wrote a very lovely poem/verse about Gabrielle’s life – it was amusing, sentimental, factual and very well put together – a true highlight of the day!

With the completion of the meal Gabrielle and Sultan hit the dance floor – in no time at all a large majority of the guests had joined them and were helping create wonderful memories. Gabrielle had wanted a fun/party/reunion type of atmosphere – this was easily achieved and everybody had a really enjoyable time. Another wonderful couple, I really have one of the best jobs in the world, I get to meet so many fantastic couples on one of the most significant days in their lives and feel very privileged to be able to contribute to it.

  • Wedding Ceremony & Reception | 3 November 2007 | Katelyn & Mark | Tumbling Waters Retreat, Stanwell Tops

Ceremony and Cocktail Reception for 70 guests held at Tumbling Waters Retreat, Stanwell Tops located an hour south of the Sydney CBD on the southern border of the Royal National Park. Perched on the edge of an escarpment overlooking the Pacific Ocean and surrounded by magnificent gardens, Tumbling Waters Retreat is a truly unique venue where couples can have their ceremony, photography, reception and honeymoon all in the one place.

For most of the day it was overcast and it did appear that the heavens would open up and spoil Katelyn and Mark’s ceremony and photography plans, however, the rain held off until very much later in the evening allowing for a beautiful ceremony to proceed as planned on the purpose built decking area and for some fantastic photos to be taken in and round Tumbling Waters outstanding garden.

The wedding ceremony, which was officiated by Deborah Jenkins, was followed with the guests being treated to drinks and various nibbles. This was followed by very substantial cocktail type food. It was a lovely relaxed reception yet still managing to remain elegant and the feel was enhanced somewhat by the atmosphere that the uniqueness of the venue created. I did notice on a number of occasions during the day that Katelyn was overcome by happiness and did become a little teary.

Later in the evening Katelyn, Mark and their guests certainly let their hair down and danced the night away, as evidenced by the photos and video in this post.
