• Wedding Ceremony & Reception | 12 November 2016 | Stacey & Kerryn | Seclusions, Rydal, Blue Mountains

Wow! What an amazing day it was for Stacey & Kerryn’s wedding! It had been raining most of the night and when I left Sydney it was overcast and looked like a downpour was imminent. But as I got closer and closer to Seclusions, located in Rydal in the Blue Mountains near Lithgow, the clouds began to clear and a beautiful blue sky was starting to appear. By the time Kerryn and Stacey commenced their walk down the aisle, it was a picture perfect day for this life long commitment that they were making. The only thing which caused a little bit of an annoyance was the intermittent wind, but it did have the advantage of keeping everyone cool.

    It was a truly beautiful ceremony conducted by Kerryn and Stacey’s friend Nicole. Now I could go on a get all descriptive about this very special commitment, but I feel that the best way for you all to get an appreciation of what it was like, is to provide the vows that Kerryn and Stacey wrote for each other;

    Kerryn’s vows:
“I, Kerryn, choose you Stacey, to be my wife, knowing that you will be my constant friend, my faithful partner and my one true love.

On this day I give to you, in front of our friends and family, my promise to stay by your side and to love you without reservation.

I vow to always be a true and loyal friend to you.

To cherish you, and to share my thoughts, hopes and dreams with you.

I vow to be your partner in all things; working with you as part of our team.

I vow never to steal the bed sheets, unless you are hogging them.

I vow to always respect your choice of music, except when that choice is Nickelback.

If you promise to kill the spiders and cockroaches that invade our home, I promise to always pick up Snowy’s poo.

If you promise to cheer loudly for the Bunnies (except of course when they are playing the Tigers), I promise to do the same in return, for you.

I will never back the Yankees in baseball or the Blues in State of Origin. I’m sorry, I just can’t.

I want us to grow old and wrinkly together.

To shake our collective fists at teenagers, and talk endlessly about the old days when things were better, cheaper and generally more wholesome.

Stacey, I love you more than I ever thought it possible to love anyone.

I love you more than I love chocolate.

As we stand here together, I am so excited that this, here and now, is the beginning of the rest of our lives.

I choose to spend today, and all of my tomorrows, with you.”

    Stacey’s vows:
“Kerryn from the first moment I saw you smile at me through the gate I knew there was something special about you. At that time I did not know that three and a half years later I would be standing here committing the rest of my life to you and still discovering just how special you are.

What I know now is that no matter how tough times ahead may be, no distance will ever be too far, no arguments will ever be too bad, no challenges will ever be that difficult that we can’t get through them.

I promise that despite the physical distance we face ahead there will never be a day where I don’t say I love you and there will never be a night where I don’t wish you sweet dreams. I promise to always remind you of why I love you and what makes you so special.

I vow to love you unconditionally and support you in all of your endeavours. I will be by your side in whatever adventures life has in store for us. I will be your shining light when times are dark and guide you along while you are finding your light at the end of the tunnel.

Today becoming your wife is not a choice, it was always an inevitability because you are my best friend, my love, my soul mate.

Today I stand here before our family and friends and vow to spend the rest of my life with you.”

The rest of the afternoon and evening was filled with lots of love, fun, laughs and great times. Guests enjoyed lawn games, fantastic speeches, a little bit of insight into how well Kerryn and Stacey actually knew each other (which was a lot of fun), much dancing, some beautiful tender moments and a amazing evening with many memories being created! But in the end it was about love and a lifelong commitment.

I also had the great pleasure of working with photographer Catherine Rose, Red Pepper Catering and The Little Cart Of Blooms to help create Kerryn and Stacy’s dream wedding.

Having had the opportunity to have met with Kerryn and Stacey a couple of times in the lead up to their wedding day, I could tell from our first meeting that they light each other up and are so deeply in love, it literally radiates off them. I also remember how Kerryn was the first to try some chocolate cookies I had out that day and it took some convincing from her before Stacey would try one, but she did and loved them. The next time they came for a progress meeting there was no hesitation from Stacey whatsoever :-).

Kerryn and Stacey, it was such a huge honour to have you both place your trust in me and to be given the opportunity to play a part in your spectacular wedding day. I had an absolutely awesome time as your Blue Mountains Wedding MC and Blue Mountains Wedding DJ – I can’t thank you enough – it was such a pleasure and joy to share in the journey towards your together forever, even when you were stressed and felt like you had no idea what to do next. I loved our meetings, phone calls, the lead up to your wedding and every aspect of your wedding day. I know you will honour your vows and commitment and your future will be extremely happy as your love for each other will continue to grow stronger. May love, laughter and music fill your lives forever!!!

  • Wedding Reception | 5 November 2016 | Samara & Westley | Doltone House, Darling Island Wharf, Pyrmont, Sydney

It would appear that Samara and Westley were destined to be together, maybe as part of some grand plan by a greater being or maybe just by fate, but whatever the reason, it was obviously just meant to be. From their paths continually crossing in their teenage years at athletics and soccer, through to university later on in life, neither were able to escape the power of the circumstances which was responsible for them connecting, falling in love and becoming united in marriage to commencing their together forever journey.

Now whilst their paths were continually crossing, there had only been admiration from afar. It was not until an invitation to a mutual friend’s birthday party, and acting on a dare from her Mum, that Samara added Westley on Facebook. Westley accepted and this prompted lots of Facebook chats and eventually organising to go to dinner. When Samara and Westley met with me when they were enquiring into my services, Westley shared that he knew he was in love with Samara within the first three weeks of them first meeting and that she was the one he wanted to marry within six months.

Fast forward to 20 June 2015 where following a few weeks of preparation, surprised Samara with a proposal! It all started two weeks earlier when Westley spoke to Samara’s parents about asking for their daughter’s hand in marriage and then went to Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains to scout out the perfect location for the proposal at the base of a waterfall. The next weekend he went back with a photographer to check out where they could hide and have the moment captured. Given that each year from their first meeting they celebrated their anniversary in some way, Samara was unsuspecting of anything when Westley suggested they go to the Blue Mountains for the day.

The morning of they left early to go to the Blue Mountains. On the way when the conversation shifted to engagements, weddings and related things, Westley started to think that Samara may have suspected what he had planned, but no, she had no inkling of what was to come. When they reached Wentworth Falls and they were making their way down the steps, Westley pretended he did not know where he was going (even though he had been there the previous two weekends), by making comments and questioning if they were going the right way to get to the waterfall.

When they reached the waterfall, Westley said he wanted a photo at the base of the waterfall on some table height rocks. Samara was reluctant to climb up on those rocks and said things like “if you fall and hurt yourself, I can’t carry you back up!”. After to and froing for what seemed like five minutes to Westley at the time (but in reality was only about 20 seconds), Samara and Westley got up onto the rock. He put down his back and grabbed the ring from it. He then walked over to Samara and asked her, “did you think I was going to propose today?” To which Samara said “No.” Westley then said, “Well I am!” and got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. Samara’s eyes started to fill with tears of happiness, her legs started to shake, she was momentarily speechless, before accepting with a most resounding, YES!

Oh…and yes the photographer did get the photo :-)!!

Saturday 5 November 2016, the day had finally arrived and Sydney shone like a diamond turning on such a perfect day for their wedding. They selected Doltone House, Darling Island Wharf as the location for their elegant wedding celebration. The room looked AMAZING! Their cake from The Cake Studio was detailed and spectacular, the table centrepieces from Anna Wang graced the tables along with the florals which hung from the ceiling above the bridal table and the white dance floor all coming together to create a beautiful and elegant feel in the room.

The evening was filled with heartfelt moments, fun, laughter, good food and lots of dancing! It was the perfect celebration of their love and the commitment to a life together. Samara and Westley are both kind, humble, gorgeous inside and out and reflective of their strong family bonds and the values instilled in them in their upbringing. They are much loved and this was evident thoughout the entire day. It was also fortunate and a great pleasure to have Siempre, Cinemotive Wedding Films and U Got Snapped Photobooth assist in capturing these fun and emotional moments – can’t wait to see the professional photographs and video!!

Together, Samara and Westley created a magical day filled with love, laughter a few tears of happiness, lots of fun and memories which they will treasure always. Thank you for inviting me to play a part in your magical day as your Wedding MC Sydney and Wedding DJ Sydney. I loved every second of it! It was such an awesome day with such awesome people. Samara and Westley, I know that your love will continue to grow and that the two of you will build a marriage that others will look upon as the ideal. May love, laughter and music fill your lives forever!!!

  • Wedding Reception | 29 October 2016 | Susan & James | Soldiers Beach Event Centre, Norah Head, Central Coast

Susan and James, or ‘Jimbo’ as he is affectionately known, first met in 2004 whilst indoor rock climbing. Susan was impressed with how fast Jimbo was flying up the walls, much like a monkey. Jimbo was really checking Susan out the whole time and those ‘monkey’ moves was him actually showing off trying to impress Susan – well it appears to have worked for here we were 12 years later, celebrating their wedding! On what was a beautiful spring day on the Central Coast, Susan and Jimbo exchanged vows at the Lighthouse located at Norah Heads.

They celebrated with family and friends at the Soldier’s Beach Event Centre with a fun filled Lego themed wedding. From the Lego Wishing Well, Lego Wedding Cake, Lego Bridal Bouquet, Lego Seating Chart, Lego Centrepieces, Lego bricks on every table for the guests to play with and the Giant Lego Man, who also appeared at the ceremony, it was truly a fun, vivid, colourful and beautiful wedding!

Now I could go on and tell you a little about Susan and Jimbo’s wedding and their story, but they did such a great job during their speech that I thought a transcript of it would be best so that you can all get a better feeling for the lovely and quirky personalities of this beautiful couple…

    Susan & Jimbo’s Speech follows:

Susan: Well a Lego man for a celebrant. Who has the Lego man for a celebrant? Lego bouquet. Gosh. Lego on every table. What a ridiculous wedding, why would anyone have their whole wedding, based on a children’s toy?

    Jimbo: It’s not a children’s toy. It’s a sophisticated interlocking brick system.

Susan: Well sophisticated or not, the good news is, it’s not our fault we like this. In fact Jimbo has made a profound discovery about this.

Jimbo: Okay so I found out that having a Lego man at a wedding is in fact tradition. Careful analysis of historical evidence shows that my parents also had a Lego man at their wedding. And it’s not just them, the Irelands, they had a lego man at their wedding. So are we really to blame?

Susan: But besides clearly being Lego fanatics, my parents are also caring and thoughtful people and they inspire me to be a better person and I want to thank my mum Leonie and my dad Peter, for the contribution and the support for today and also want to thank dad for his awesome speech and I know it’s not your cup of tea for public speaking, but it was actually really good!

Jimbo: I’d like to thank my mum for being so kind and generous and putting up with me for however many years, like 20 odd years that I had to live with her as well as everything that she does for us. Whenever we go travelling whether it be days, weeks, months, she looks after our fur babies (and Steven as well but I’m talking about my mum at the moment). So I just wanted to thank her and also Emma for that absolutely amazing speech and all the dirt and goss on my past life.

Susan: I also want to thank Julie my stylist for today for making me look like a woman, which is it’s kinda rare for me to have makeup on and hair done, so good work. And also I want to thank Meagan and Jane for their readings and Emma and Dave for witnessing and signing our marriage certificate and they had to get out their pen licenses and practice their penmanship for that.

Jimbo: And thank you to our Lego man celebrant, Mister Angry Mike. So Mike spent a lot of time trying to make that suit work and it wasn’t easy for him. So in all the time today while he was in that suit, he couldn’t see out the front so there was a phone in there for providing him with visual stimulation……and the legs also just trying to make him stay stable on the ground was a feat that he and Julie helped make work, so I thank you for that.

Susan: And thank you also to Dave for such a lovely speech and Luke for doing the music at the ceremony. And thank you also to everyone here today. Each and everyone of you have contributed something to our lives and thanks for joining in all the craziness of today and for pretending you don’t think we are completely bonkers!

Jimbo: What do you mean bonkers?! Everything today has been oozing with high class. We’ve had Lego, Wallace & Gromit. A lot of Portal. And Bill and Ted, is that not awesome!?

Susan: And that’s just what I’d expect to hear from the kind of person who when given just a couple of days to explore Paris decided that we gonna have to skip the Louvre, let’s go to Disneyland instead.

Jimbo: Ha! and you just married that guy! But what are you talking about? We saw the Louvre. We saw all three Mona Lisa’s through the window.

Susan: And finally we’d also like to thank Serge for MCing tonight as well as providing all the music and Donna also and her team for all the lovely food and the awesome venue.

Jimbo: But I guess there is one other person I really need to thank today, it’s the person I’ve shared my life with the past decade. Decade and a bit. The mother of our two beautiful fur babies, Starsky and Hutch. Someone who puts up with all the weird and wacky things I do. Someone who walks in front of me, to protect me from the giant spiders. Someone who is so patient she always waits for me at the top of the hill when we are cycling or hiking.

Susan: ….and someone who’s also patient enough to endure a three and a half year engagement. But there’s also another person I should thank as well he’s the father of out two beautiful fur babies. He tolerates my general weirdness and endures my endless terrible jokes. He endures my death marches, otherwise known as runs. He’s someone who is always up for a challenge and an adventure and is full of ideas that make life just that little bit more enjoyable and fun.

    Jimbo: To Susan!

Susan: To Jimbo! And we also work very well together as a team. So a few years ago. We went on a kayaking trip to the arctic. And we were in two person kayaks, in a group and a polar bear was spotted swimming towards us, so only maybe 20 – 30 meters away. And Jimbo thoughtfully volunteers us, our kayak, to be the last one out of the water, to the safety of of the main boat. But I was in that kayak too! and I don’t want to be last! Polar bears a cute from a distance or in a zoo, but they are a lot less cute when they are swimming towards us!

Jimbo: Besides being an awesome team we also think alike on many occasions. When one of Susan’s friends was leaving for the UK they showed us all their stuff and said that we could take any of it. Of all the possible household items we could have chosen we both checked out the half size ironing board. And decided, it would be perfect for bush walking. So we took that ironing board on a 44 kilometre day walk. It took us twelve hours. But it was a great introduction to the sport of extreme ironing for us.

Susan: And we are also always very gentle with each other. So we’ve developed a game called park badminton which is like normal badminton, but in a park. We play up to wind speeds of exactly 8 kilometres per hour and the aim is not to keep the rally going, the aim is to hit each other in the head with the shuttlecock.

Jimbo: We also support and encourage each other. On many occasions while mountain biking with Susan, we would hit a hill which would drop my speed down to a crawl. Susan would casually spin her way up to the top without breaking a sweat. But being the such supportive person she was, instead of waiting for me patiently at the top, she would turn around, ride back down to the to where I was, turn round and then casually ride back up the hill again. It’s this type of encouragement that really got me focused on getting fitter.

Susan: But for what he lacks in fitness he makes up for with his impeccable sense of fashion. But also he has creative and ridiculous ideas – this one time he even had an idea to have a giant Lego man at our wedding.

Jimbo: …and we all know how that turned out! Thank you.

End of Susan & Jimbo’s Speech

Susan and Jimbo it was a huge honour to have been given the opportunity to share the journey leading up to your wedding day, be part of it and witness the beautiful relationship you share. Looking at the photos seeing the smiles on your and your guests faces throughout the whole evening made me very happy. You both wanted your day to be Awesome, Fun, Happy & Unique – I think I can safely say that this was achieved! Thank you for granting me the privilege of being your Central Coast Wedding MC & Central Coast Wedding DJ. Just like Lego, the two of you fit together perfectly. Be sure to never Lego of each other’s heart 🙂 . May love, laughter and music fill your lives forever!!!!
