Tea Room QVB

  • Wedding Reception | 22 May 2015 | Tessa & Ulysses | The Tea Room QVB, Sydney

“Let us celebrate the occasion with wine and sweet words” ~ Plautus

Sometimes it the most unfortunate of circumstances and when we least expect it, love can find a way of manifesting it’s presence. It all started with Tessa and Ulysses’ dads who were best friends. Uly even played with Tessa and her older sister when they were all kids. Uly was living in London when he received the sad news that his father has passed away suddenly due to heart failure and immediately returned to Australia for the funeral. It was at the funeral that Tessa & Ulysses met again. They only very vaguely remembered each other but it was the start of a beautiful love story that would eventually lead to their wedding day.

Following the funeral, Tessa looked Uly up on Facebook and following Uly’s return to London, they chatted via Facebook, with a shared love of food, they often cooked a meal together, via Facebook, and posted what they had cooked for each other to see. This eventually led to Skype dates and within five months of the funeral, Tessa felt compelled to go to London. She was met by Uly and welcomed with a “spin, dip & kiss” in front of a terminal full of people. At the end of the three weeks they knew they were in love.

On 3 May 2013, following numerous fake proposals in the week leading up to this day, Uly asked Tessa to be his wife and share the rest of her life with him. Fast forward to 22 May 2015 and here we were celebrating their marriage at The Tea Room Queen Victoria Building. This stylish venue with it’s custom designed Baccarat crystal chandeliers and beautiful Victorian ceiling, was the perfect choice for this gorgeous couple’s wedding reception.

It was an evening filled with lots of wonderful emotions – there were tears, there was laughter, there were more tears, there was a heap of fun and there was love; there was lots of LOVE! It was so beautiful to see just how much Tessa and Uly were adored by their family and friends and to see them join in and truly celebrate their marriage. Lots of guests dancing the night away, Tessa & Uly hoisted into the air (which was really so fitting as we had introduced them as Lord Ulysses and Lady Tessa at the beginning of the evening).

Tessa and Uly are a beautiful fun-loving couple with whom I instantly connected with. I loved meeting with them and hearing some of their stories about their journey which led to their wedding day. Love is not reflected in superficial prettiness. Love is creating
something together that will last long after you are around to see what it becomes. It was such an immense honour to have been given the opportunity to be a part of this historic moment in your lives. I feel so very privileged to have played a small part as your Wedding DJ Sydney & Sydney Wedding MC in creating some of the memories for your future. I know that your love will leave a legacy bigger than you ever imagined! May love, laughter and music fill your lives forever!!!

  • Wedding Reception | 8 December 2012 | Katie & Brett | The Tea Room QVB, Sydney

Katie and Brett met in August of 2009, Katie thought Brett was a great dancer and Brett thought Katie was very pretty as he watched her from the other side of the room. Not long after, they had arranged to go for coffee, but Brett suggested they go to dinner instead – and dinner it was at Cronulla’s Little Italy Restaurant. Whilst Katie realised she was in love with Brett after a few weeks, it was not until a few months later that Brett realised he was in love with Katie…..and so this was the beginning of a beautiful love story.

Two years later, in August 2011, Brett proposed on a trip away to Berry. Brett had it all planned, An early morning 1 kilometre hike up to Cambewarra Lookout to watch the sunrise and as the sun rose he would propose. Unfortunately, when they got there, the lookout was closed. Not to be deterred, Brett suggested they jump the fence – which they did. He lost his bearings in all the excitement and couldn’t quite work out which way was east. Anyway, as much as I hate to cut a beautiful story short, Brett proposed, Katie said yes, she shed a tear or two, and here were were at  The Tea Room Queen Victoria Building in Sydney to celebrate their lifelong commitment.

Guests arrived and were welcomed with canapés and refreshments whilst Katie, Brett and their wedding party had photographs in and around the Queen Victoria Building. A little while later they were all welcomed with rapturous applause from the 120 invited family and friends. A delicious entree and it was time for the first segment of speeches. First up was Katie’s mum, Kathleen, followed by Brett’s dad, Ray and finishing with Matron of Honour, Suzy. All conveyed beautiful sentiments and it was abundantly clear that Katie and Brett are very much loved.

A delectable main course and it was a very humourous speech from Best Man, Michael and lovely words from Brett. Dessert followed, then the Cake Cutting before Katie & Brett shared their first dance as husband and wife. The wedding party and parents joined them part way through, followed by the remainder of the guests, then the party really began.

The bouquet and garter toss, followed by a ‘Catchers Dance’ where  the two lucky catchers were asked to have a special dance together – and being good sports they of course obliged. More dancing, Katie and Brett being lifted into the air and much more fun. In what seemed like no time at all, it time to say goodbye. A farewell dance with all the guests before Katie and Brett departed to start their new life together.

It was a beautiful relaxed and sophisticated wedding that was loads of fun. Katie and Brett are two beautiful and amazing people – they light each other up and everyone around them and along with their fun wedding party, it was such a joy to be a part of their wedding day as their Sydney Wedding DJ and MC. Thank you for entrusting me and inviting me to be a part of your fabulous wedding day. Have a wonderful and enjoyable honeymoon and may love, laughter and music continue to fill your lives forever!!

This demonstrates just what beautiful & generous individuals Katie & Brett are.

Guests were invited to right their names on the hearts. This Is a lovely guest book alternative.
