  • Wedding Reception & Ceremony | 9 January 2022 | Kristy & Jake | William Inglis Hotel, Warwick Farm, Sydney

Kristy & Jake’s wedding celebration was one of those days where you kind of wish you could slow down time. Amazing venue a fun wedding party, funny and supportive family & friends, and the magic that is Kristy & Jake. They are both kind, humble and gorgeous inside and out. It was an absolute pleasure and honour to have been able to play a part of their magical day!

The journey to their wedding celebration however, was not all smooth sailing. They met in February 2018. A month later they were dating and a year later during a “glamping” trip, Jake proposed. It was in April 2019, when I first met them both (following an initial lengthy conversation with Jake). I connected with Kristy & Jake immediately and it was evident that they completely adored each other, made each other laugh with ease and were perfect for one another.

Kristy & Jake’s wedding date was set to be 4 July 2020, but in March 2020 the world started to go a little crazy and we were restricted from doing many things including getting married, let alone having a wedding reception 🙁 (Also around this time, the home that they were building was completed, and they moved in together.)

As time progressed and we approached 4 July 2020, it was obvious that they would not be able to have the wedding day they had envisaged. However, they were not going to let a global pandemic stop them from getting married. So, get married on 4 July 2020 they did!!, with an intimate ceremony on the family property. The plan was then to have a vow renewal and celebrate with family & friends on 3 July 2021.

Whilst Kristy & Jake were enjoying married life, the craziness in the world continued and whilst there were some restrictions in place, it looked like that they would be able to celebrate on this new date. We were almost a week out when a lockdown was imposed and dashed all hope for the celebration once again. Another new date of 5 September 2021 was set, but this was shortly afterwards postponed to 9 January 2022.

Both the ceremony and reception were held at the William Inglis Hotel, a boutique equine themed hotel located at Warwick Farm. With its gorgeous feel and quintessential rural ambience, it is a perfect location for a wedding.

So here we were, 9 January 2022 and Kristy & Jake finally were able to celebrate with their family and friends. It did appear at one point that the rain gods had conspired to rain on their parade, but no, love won with just a few minutes of the lightest drizzle during the ceremony.

In was a beautiful vow renewal, officiated by Carolyn Wilson, guests witnessed a heartfelt ceremony as Kristy & Jake reaffirmed their love and commitment to each other. A group photograph followed before guests were treated to a Gelato Cart, refreshments and canapés.

Before long it was time to welcome the members of wedding party and our beautiful couple into the Big Barn to commence the celebration. Couple by couple they entered to great cheers and applause, with the biggest reserved for Kristy & Jake, who entered to “The Horses” by Daryl Braithwaite, whilst surprising guests by riding stick horses and wearing cowboy hats!

This was followed by the cutting of the cake, wonderful speeches from the two dads, Barry and Graeme, Kristy sharing a dance with her dad, a delectable entrée, great speeches from the Matron of Honour, Latoya, Best Man, Greg and last, but not least, Jake. At the end of his speech Jake invited his mum, Candy to the dance floor for the mother son dance. This was followed by a delicious main course.

It was now time for Kristy & Jake to share their first dance together. To a special mix of two versions of “(I’m Gonna Be) 500 Miles”, the first by Sleeping At Last. As the floor filled with a sea of dry ice, they danced as if they were amongst the clouds. Part way through, as the song transitioned to the original Proclaimers version, multiple indoor fireworks shot up through the sea of clouds as the wedding party and guests joined Kristy and Jake on the dance floor.

After a 554 day wait from that original 4 July 2020 date, the rest of the evening was filled with lots of dancing, laughter, catching up, and finally being able to celebrate these two amazing individuals committing their lives to each other again, surrounded by their fun family and friends! As long as it took for this day to finally arrive, it seemed like it was over way too quickly and before we knew, we were bidding Kristy & Jake farewell.

Sometimes I struggle to find the words to explain how grateful I am for the awesome people who trust me to play a part in their amazing wedding days. This is such a time. They both have a big soft spot in my heart. They are generous, sweet, fun, talented and despite all the challenges they faced in this journey, they managed to remain calm throughout and just go with the flow. I am so honoured for their trust they placed in me. Kristy & Jake, keep nurturing and caring for your love as you proceed through life together. It will then grow into the most beautiful thing you’ve ever known! May love, laughter and music continue to fill your lives forever!!

  • Wedding Reception | 5 December 2021 | Lara & Angus | Centennial Homestead, Centennial Parklands, Sydney

WOW!! what a cracker of a day!!! Lots of laughter, love, joy and happiness. My kind of day! Lara and Angus are totally perfect for each other. Genuine, thoughtful, confident and just the right amount of silly. I totally adored spending the day celebrating with them, surrounded by their families, friends and so much joy!

Lara and Angus met in 2007 at University, where they were both undertaking Science degrees and their relationship started with them being friends for quite a number of years. Secretly however, Angus had a crush on Lara and eventually, in 2014, found the courage to ask Lara out on a date.

It was not until 21 March 2020 that Angus surprised Lara with a proposal at their home. During a gathering, on his birthday, with a few friends, after cutting his birthday cake, the friends were calling for a speech. During his speech his invited Lara to join him. When she did, he said to her, “I never told you what I wanted for my birthday” and then reach into his pocket, went down on one knee and asked Lara to marry him. Lara welled up but responded with a resounding “Yes!”.

The original date planned for the wedding was 21 August 2021, but due to Greater Sydney and most of NSW being in lock down, it was postponed until 5 December 2021. Lara & Angus selected Centennial Homestead as the location for their reception. Surrounded by rolling green lawns, lakes and exquisite gardens, Centennial Homestead is located within Sydney’s Centennial Parklands and is perfect for a wedding celebration. Whilst earlier in the week, the high possibility of rain had been forecast, it was in fact a beautiful day and no rain in sight.

The reception was filled with an abundance of fun, laughter and joy. Everybody was there to celebrate with our beautiful couple. From the cheers to welcome the wedding party and Lara & Angus, to the lovely, fun and humourous speeches, the father daughter dance and the stunning choreographed first dance, to the farewell exit, it was so wonderful to see everybody so happy for them both.

One of the highlights of any wedding day for me is watching the connection between my couples. As mentioned, these two delightful people were friends before they fell in love and their affection and love for each other was so wonderful to witness. They make each other laugh so easily, and are so generous of themselves and their warmth with everyone around them. I loved spending the day with them & their family & friends.

Lara and Angus, thank you for your trust in me as your Sydney Wedding MC & Sydney Wedding DJ and allowing me to contribute to and witness such a magical and unforgettable day! I smile every time I think about it all. You came together in hope, are joined by a promise and united in love. Have a lifetime of laughs, an eternity of love, and an abundance of happiness as you start this new chapter as Mr & Mrs! May love, laughter and music continue to fill your lives forever!!
